Rabdan One - Is It Truly UAE’s Electric Marvel?
Rabdan One, the inaugural electric vehicle manufactured in the UAE, took center stage at the Adipec 2023 gathering in Abu Dhabi, captivating global energy professionals.
NWTN Motors and the Rabdan Brand
NWTN Motors, a prominent green mobility technology company in the UAE, is the visionary force behind the Rabdan brand. Currently establishing a robust sales and distribution network for Rabdan vehicles in GCC nations, NWTN anticipates surpassing 5,000 units in electric car sales over the next five years.
Cutting-edge technology and Industry Prospects
The Rabdan One, dubbed a "dynamic, intelligent, and comfortable all-wheel-drive SUV with the world’s leading range extension technology," has garnered attention from industry leaders. Tariq Al Hashmi, the UAE Ministry’s Director of Technology Adoption and Development, sees the Rabdan One as a catalyst for the burgeoning electric vehicle industry in the UAE. Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank has also inked a Memorandum of Understanding with NWTN, becoming the first UAE bank to offer financing for Rabdan One purchases.
Design and Specifications
Measuring 4,905 mm in length with a 2,960 mm wheelbase, the Rabdan One stands slightly larger than the J150 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (2009-2023). Notable design features include swept-back headlights, a distinctive grille showcasing Rabdan's logo, dominant wheel arches, and a sleek, aerodynamic profile. The interior boasts automatic pop-out car door handles, a hydraulic trunk, a dual-tone design with premium materials, and a dashboard featuring a full-width screen housing the digital instrument cluster and multimedia system.
Performance and Features
As an all-wheel-drive extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), the Rabdan One boasts a driving range of up to 860 kilometers. With a dual-motor setup generating 1,040 horsepower, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Additional features include air suspension, a finely tuned chassis for enhanced road stability, ADAS technologies, and a level-two autonomous driving system.

Upcoming Launch and Production Details
NWTN plans to officially launch the Rabdan One in the coming months, withholding pricing details until closer to the launch. Interestingly, the Rabdan One shares similarities with the Voyah Free SUV by Dongfeng Motors of China. NWTN has acquired a license to produce and rebadge the Voyah Free as Rabdan One, with production slated for a facility in Mussafa, Abu Dhabi.
