Renault 5 E-Tech Teaser Unveils Battery, Pricing, and Design

Renault is gearing up to officially introduce the highly anticipated Renault 5 E-Tech Electric at the upcoming 2024 Geneva International Motor Show. However, the company couldn't resist providing a comprehensive teaser ahead of the event, revealing key details about the electric vehicle.

Design Inspired by Heritage
The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric is set to evoke the spirit of its predecessor, paying homage to the classic model through its design. Notably, the headlights maintain the original shape but feature a distinctive mark in the center resembling the pupil of an eye. The front introduces a unique change, replacing the historical model's air intake with a charge indicator light that forms the number "5" when the car is fully charged.

Compact Stature with a Powerful Presence
Measuring at just 3.92m, the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric creates a compact yet powerful look through well-designed wheel arches. The vehicle's distinct personality is accentuated by a graphic design reminiscent of the R5 Turbo.

Innovative Rear Lights and Aerodynamic Efficiency
The vertical rear lights not only extend the side panel's aesthetics but also contribute to aerodynamic efficiency by reducing air turbulence. Efficiency takes center stage in this electric era.

Reservation Launch - R5 R Pass
Renault introduces the R5 R Pass, allowing customers in select European countries to secure early deliveries by placing a €150 deposit.

Impressive Battery Options and Range
Renault confirms the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric will feature a 52 kWh battery with a WLTP range of up to 400 km. A second 40 kWh battery option is expected to be available at a later date.

AmpR Small Platform for a Fun Driving Experience
Built on the AmpR Small platform, the Renault 5 promises a fun driving experience with multi-link rear suspension for excellent stability and road handling.

Immersive Digital Experience Inside
Inside the vehicle, drivers will encounter "reno," Renault's official avatar, providing a fully immersive digital experience. The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric boasts a bidirectional onboard charger, making it the first production vehicle with Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology. Supported by Mobilize, this technology enables drivers to sell excess electricity back to the grid, leading to savings on charging costs and reduced electricity bills.

Competitive Pricing
Renault provides an indication of the pricing for the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, starting at around €25,000. This pricing positions the electric vehicle competitively in the B-segment hybrids market.
