Suzuki Every Sales Drop Significantly in December

Three months ago, Pakistan Suzuki Motors Company (PSMC) introduced the highly anticipated Suzuki Every, assembled locally for the first time. Its sales trends since the launch have provided insight into the market’s reaction to this MPV. Let’s explore how it has fared.

October Sales: A Modest Start

In its first month on the market, Suzuki Every sold a modest 262 units out of 736 produced. This initial response wasn’t surprising, as evaluating a vehicle’s market success in its launch phase is often premature.

November Sales Boom

As per Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) data, Suzuki Every saw a significant 148% sales surge in November, with 636 units sold. This marked an impressive improvement over the previous month, suggesting rising consumer interest in the new MPV.

December Sales Decline

However, December saw a stark contrast. Sales dropped by 43%, with only 113 units sold, highlighting potential concerns about the vehicle’s sustained market appeal. If this downward trajectory continues, questions may arise about its long-term viability.

PSMC’s December Sales Figures

Despite Suzuki Every Decline Sales in Pakistan, PSMC reported a 12% increase in total sales for December, selling 6,016 units compared to November’s 5,374. The breakdown of December sales is shown below:

ModelUnits Sold (December 2024)
Suzuki Alto4,115
Suzuki Swift668
Suzuki Cultus322
Suzuki Wagon R220
Suzuki Bolan117
Suzuki Ravi461
Suzuki Every113

Background Factors

The demand for the Suzuki Every stems from key developments in the auto industry. In 2021, the Lahore High Court directed the Engineering Development Board (EDB) to ensure all vehicles include airbags, casting doubt on the feasibility of upgrading the aging Suzuki Bolan. This fueled expectations for a locally assembled Suzuki Every.
Additionally, PSMC faced growing competition from Changan Karvaan, a rival MPV. In response, PSMC launched the CKD Suzuki Every, aiming to regain market share. Despite the initial hype, its performance has yet to meet expectations.
