Suzuki Every vs. Changan Karvaan: Head-to-Head Competition

Today marks a significant day in Pakistan's automotive industry, especially for budget-conscious consumers and commercial vehicle owners. After a long wait of 43 years, Suzuki has finally introduced the all-new Every 660cc in Pakistan. Since 2022, the news of the Every's launch has been circulating, and after two years of anticipation, it has arrived. This new addition to the market promises a fresh option for those seeking a small, fuel-efficient minivan.

Changan Karvaan: The Leading Competitor
In the local market, the Changan Karvaan stands as the primary competitor to Suzuki Every. Both vehicles fall under the minivan category, and their prices are quite similar. The Changan Karvaan is priced at Rs. 3.0 million for its top variant, while the Suzuki Every comes in slightly lower at Rs. 2.799 million for its top VXR variant. Despite the close pricing, these two vehicles target slightly different consumer needs.

Changan Karvaan: Ideal for Long Journeys
Launched in 2018, the Changan Karvaan quickly became a favorite for intercity travel, especially among private drivers. Often considered a lighter version of the Toyota Hiace, it is known for its spacious seating, decent air conditioning (with back AC vents), and comfort over distances of 100-200 km. Powered by a 1.2-liter engine, the Karvaan produces 72 HP and 119 Nm of torque, making it suitable for long-distance travel. Its features make it the go-to option for private drivers offering intercity services on the GT Road and Motorway.

Suzuki Every: Best for City Use
On the other hand, the Suzuki Every is not designed for long journeys like the Karvaan. With its smaller 660cc engine and a seating capacity of four, it caters more to city-based tasks. It lacks back AC vents and offers fewer seats, making it less suitable for intercity travel. However, its fuel efficiency and compact size make it an excellent option for local city work such as school pickups, cargo deliveries, and government services. The Every is expected to become a popular choice for school transportation and small-scale commercial tasks.

Safety and Performance
When it comes to safety, the Suzuki Every outshines many of its competitors with features like two airbags, ABS, EBD, and anti-pinch windows. Additionally, although the Every has a smaller engine than the Bolan, it is actually more powerful, with 42 HP compared to the Bolan's 37 HP. This combination of safety and performance ensures that the Suzuki Every will likely dominate its segment for local commercial use. Here's a brief comparison of both cars, offering an honest and unbiased view of their strengths and weaknesses.
