The Zeekr 001 FR by Geely Makes Its Debut in China

Geely, the renowned automaker, has officially launched its high-performance luxury EV liftback, the Zeekr 001 FR, in China. With a price tag of 769,000 yuan ($105,100), production is limited to just 99 vehicles per month, setting the stage for an exclusive offering in the electric vehicle market. It's poised to take on none other than the Tesla Model S Plaid.

Lightning Speed and Cutting-Edge Power

The Zeekr 001 FR, unveiled just this month, stands out with its quad motor setup, delivering a formidable 1,248 horsepower (930 kW) and 1,280 Nm of torque. Its acceleration is no less impressive, rocketing from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.36 seconds from a standstill, and even faster in a rolling start scenario at 2.07 seconds.

Revolutionary Handling and Braking

A remarkable feature of the Zeekr 001 FR is its capability to perform a tank turn, made possible by its four separate SiC permanent magnet synchronous electric motors. The vehicle is equipped with a four-wheel torque management system that dynamically distributes torque among the wheels, taking real-time wheel speed into account. Braking power is also top-tier, featuring 10-piston brake calipers from AP Racing at the front and 4-piston brake calipers at the rear, complemented by Brembo carbon ceramic brake discs. Thanks to a lightweight carbon fiber aerodynamic kit, the car can withstand a maximum lateral force of 1.4G.

A Power Boost from Kimi Raikkonen

Adding to the excitement, the Zeekr 001 FR offers a special driving mode, a collaboration with Formula-1 legend Kimi Raikkonen, who recently joined forces with Zeekr. This mode elevates the Zeekr 001 FR's power output from 1,248 hp to 1,282 hp and will be made available through an OTA update soon. Kimi Raikkonen's involvement extends beyond power boosts; he will also assist Zeekr in refining other versions of Zeekr cars in the future.

Supplementing the all-wheel-drive system is the Zeekr Vectoring Control system, ensuring power is directed where it's needed most. The peak torque at the wheels can reach a staggering 10,000 Nm, making tank turns effortless. The Zeekr 001 FR stands as Geely's most potent car to date, and it's not just powerful but also claimed to be the world's fastest mass-produced car.
