Toyota Pakistan Discontinues Petrol Hilux Variant

Toyota Pakistan, renowned for its sedans and the popular Hilux pickup trucks, has discontinued the petrol variant of the Hilux. The Hilux lineup, featuring “Revo” and “Vigo” variants in single and double-cab configurations, is now exclusively available with diesel engines. The petrol variant was less popular due to a stronger preference for diesel engines.

Popularity of Diesel
Diesel variants have consistently outperformed their petrol counterparts in popularity, likely due to better fuel efficiency and torque, crucial for heavy-duty applications. This trend made it logical for Toyota to phase out the petrol version, effectively saying goodbye to a less favored option.

Features of Petrol Hilux
Despite the petrol variant’s departure, its features and specifications are noteworthy as it played a role in the diverse offerings of the Hilux range. The single-cabin petrol Hilux featured a 4-cylinder in-line 2TR-FE engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. This configuration delivered a maximum output of 163 hp and torque of 245 Nm, providing sufficient power for various driving needs.

Safety Features
The vehicle was equipped with several important safety features designed to protect occupants and enhance driving security. These included SRS airbags for the driver and front passenger, an immobilizer, a key reminder system, engine oil level warning, light reminders, clutch start safety features, seatbelt reminders, and an anti-lock braking system (ABS).

Conclusion
The discontinuation of the petrol Hilux marks the end of an era for Toyota Pakistan. However, the company continues to cater to the market's demands by focusing on the more popular and efficient diesel variants, ensuring the Hilux remains a top choice for consumers.
