Toyota's New Fancy Car: Century SUV Convertible

Toyota has long been synonymous with affordability in the automotive market, but as the new year unfolds, the manufacturer is ushering in a new era with strategic shifts, particularly in the realm of hybrid and electric models. Breaking into the luxury SUV market, Toyota introduces the 'Toyota Century' convertible, signaling a departure from its traditional market positioning. With this move, Toyota sets its sights on challenging premium brands like BMW, Porsche, Audi, and Cadillac.

Reviving the 'Toyota Century'
The relaunch of the 'Century' targets discerning customers seeking to elevate their status symbol with this opulent model. Originally introduced in 1967 as a chauffeur-driven car in Japan, the vehicle was favored by executive families, including bureaucrats, politicians, and the country's royal families. Toyota's CEO, Koji Sato, envisions resurrecting legendary models to compete with esteemed brands such as Rolls Royce and Bentley, emphasizing enhanced performance, luxury, and sustainable engineering concepts.

A Production Goal of 30 Units Monthly
Toyota aims to manufacture 30 units of the 'Toyota Century' each month in 2024. Local deliveries are slated to commence early in the year, with international deliveries scheduled for the latter months of 2024. The luxury convertible will be offered in both right-hand and left-hand drive versions, featuring a range of options tailored for markets in the Middle East, Asia, and Northern America.

Pricing for the Century
The Toyota Century comes with a hefty price tag, starting at US$220,000 or JPY 33 million. Buyers can choose between a basic model priced around $170,000 or the GRMN version, commanding approximately $220,000. The acronym GRMN stands for Gazoo Racing Meister of Nurburgring, underscoring the concept's focus on premium clientele.

Toyota has chosen to keep details about the exterior, interior, and specifications under wraps for now, building anticipation for the upcoming reveal.
