Yes, ignoring a transmission fluid leak can lead to serious damage. The fluid lubricates and cools the transmission system. If levels too low, internal components can overheat o r seize.

Risks:

Gear slippage o r hard shifting

Overheating of the transmission

Permanent damage to transmission components

Costly repairs o r full transmission replacement

Recommended Action:

Don’t delay repairs. Small leaks are easier and cheaper to fix than major damage.

Regularly check the transmission fluid level and color should be red o r light brown and not burnt.

If you spot a leak, get it diagnosed and repaired immediately by a trusted mechanic.
