Bmw diesal ---be ware in the rain

to all BMW OWNERS ..guys beware to drive ur expensive BMW CARS in the rain ,

apparaently my cousin and i were driving back home , it was raining cats n dogs in islamabad and there was a small slush on the road , more then 20 - 30 cards were going along just fine .

we were in our new 5 series 530d when all of a sudden in the middle of the road the car turned it self off and the whole damn dash board lit up with warning lights.

we tried to auto start the car again but nothing . imagine the frustration to push this big car in the rain to a friends house near by.

we called up dewan and gave them hell . upon inspection of the car we found out that the car had gobbled up nearly 2 - 3 liter of water and the cam shafts were bended / destroyed , scewing up the engine.

well the car was new hence under warranty . ******** at dewean try to scew us and said its not covered under warranty and u have to pay 15 laks for a new engine to be improted from germany at ur cost.

WTFFFFF , luckily we sent an email to bmw n germany , and i am surprised at the fast responce they gave us . the head of bmw in pakistan some guy - called my cousin and he told the entire story to him . but they still insisted on payment . what can i say ......

in the end it was found out that the car air intakes are right near the front bumper at the bottom and that is how it sucks in air to the car .

so guys be ware - after this issue , dewan called up every customer who bought diesal bmw from them , including my dad the pls avoid going in puddles / rain etc .

....THEY DID REPLACE THE ENGINE FREE OF COST AFTER A 2 PAGE EMAIL WAS SENT TO BMW GERMANY WITH PICS / INFO . A LETTER OF APOLOGY WAS ALSO RECIEVED.
