maybe i opened a topic before that my e38 has a torque converter problem. i found a solution by driving it on manual modes.

past few weeks ive been driving on m2. m3 m4 md ,, shifting up and down with relevant speeds to keep engine at 2 rpm.
for easy driving that's sufficent rpm for a 4.4l engine.

lately i ran into another issue , transmission didnt shift up from 2nd gear even i shift to m3 m4 or md while i was driving in manual mode.

so i was stuck in 2nd gear, i stop car on a exit, and waited 15- 20 minutes, open bonnet, let the wind cool down trnsmission ,, and drove later in sport modes (s4) and car shifts fine, i cant shift into sd (auto) because of torque converter issue.

but its bit scary if i am on highway at 65mph and car suddenly MAY shift down to 2nd gear. ,- this didnt happen yet while keeping it in sport mode.

should i try to risk a 2nd hand transmission change along with transmission intercooler. filter etc? costing about $3k

cant seem to sell the car at a resonal price now. as i am not good in selling cars..lol, (i can only mantain and drive)

If you're going to repair to sell, be prepared to lose a lot of money. If you're prepared to do that, then do it because this is a pretty serious issue. Are you certain you need a new gearbox? I think give Sohail bhai a call- I can bet he knows of one he can source for you from a junkyard.
