Can a Clogged Air Filter Cause My Suzuki Khyber to Lose Pick-Up Power?

My Khyber feels underpowered and sluggish, especially when going uphill o r carrying passengers. Could this be due to a blocked air filter affecting airflow to the engine?

Yes, a clogged air filter is one of the most common reasons behind loss of engine power o r sluggish pick-up. The air filter ensures that clean air enters the engine. When it’s dirty o r blocked, air intake is reduced, and the engine can’t “breathe” properly.

Symptoms:

Poor throttle response

Engine feels heavy o r lazy

Engine misfires o r sounds “choked” on acceleration

In Pakistan’s dusty conditions, especially in urban areas o r near construction zones, this problem can show up even faster.

Solution:

Clean the air filter every 5,000 km

Replace it every 10,000–15,000 km

Cost: PKR 400–800 depending on brand Guard, VIC, etc.
