Can a Faulty Carburetor Cause Poor Fuel Economy in Suzuki Khyber?

The Suzuki Khyber comes with a carbureted engine. If the carburetor is not properly tuned o r has worn-out jets, could that cause excessive fuel consumption, and how can it be properly adjusted?

Yes, the carburetor plays a central role in fuel-air mixture, and if it’s malfunctioning, it can drastically affect fuel economy.

Signs of a Faulty Carburetor:

Black smoke from the exhaust

Strong fuel smell

Engine running too rich o r too lean

Hesitation during acceleration

Fix:

Have the carburetor cleaned and tuned properly — usually costs between PKR 1,000–2,000

Replace jets o r float valve if they’re worn out

Use a carb cleaner spray periodically to maintain performance

Tip: Proper tuning can boost Khyber’s mileage from 8–9 km/l to 12–14 km/l in city driving.
