Could a Dirty Oil Filter Be Causing My Suzuki Khyber’s Engine to Overheat?

My engine temperature rises more than usual, even though I recently changed the oil. I haven’t changed the oil filter in a while. Could a clogged oil filter be affecting oil flow and causing overheating?

Yes, a clogged oil filter can affect oil flow to the engine, leading to increased friction and even overheating. Though the Khyber doesnt have a temperature gauge for oil specifically, a failing oil filter can quietly damage your engine.

Signs of a clogged oil filter:

Higher than normal engine temperature

Low oil pressure if your Khyber has an oil light o r meter

Ticking noise from the engine

In Pakistan, due to heat and traffic, oil degrades faster — which also affects the filter.

Solution:

Replace oil filter with every oil change every 3,000–5,000 km for mineral oil

Don’t reuse old filters

Filter cost: PKR 250–500 brands: Leppon, Guard, VIC
