Cracked o r spiderweb-like patterns in the paint are becoming visible on many older Suzuki Khyber cars. What causes this cracking, and can it be repaired through polishing o r does it require complete repainting?

Yes, this is known as paint crazing o r spiderweb cracking, often caused by old o r brittle paint, especially when the car is regularly exposed to high temperatures.

Causes:

UV damage and age-related shrinkage

Cheap resprays without proper curing o r base layers

Sudden temperature changes

Poor quality clear coat breaking down

Fixes:

Light cracks can sometimes be reduced by polishing and buffing.

In more severe cases, the only real solution is sanding down the affected area and repainting.

Apply a clear coat o r ceramic sealant post-repair to delay future cracking.
