Why Does My Khyber Show a Battery Warning Light on the Dashboard?

The battery warning light stays on even after installing a new battery in my Khyber. Could this be due to a faulty alternator o r voltage regulator, and how can I test them at home o r with a mechanic?

The battery warning light usually means the alternator is not charging the battery properly — not necessarily that the battery is bad.

Possible Reasons:

Worn alternator brushes

Loose o r broken alternator belt

Faulty voltage regulator

Corroded battery terminals o r wiring

How to Test:

Start the car and use a multimeter to check battery voltage:

Below 12.5V = weak charging

13.5V–14.5V = healthy alternator
