Why Does My Suzuki Khyber Overheat in Traffic Even With a Full Radiator?

My Khyber doesn’t overheat on the highway, but the temperature rises when I’m stuck in traffic o r at signals. The radiator has enough water. What could be causing this overheating issue in city driving?

If your Khyber overheats in traffic but not on the highway, the most likely reason is insufficient airflow to the radiator when the car is idle.

Common Causes:

Radiator fan not working properly

Fan switch o r relay failure

Weak fan motor very common in older Khybers

Clogged radiator fins o r dust buildup

What to Check:

See if the fan turns on automatically when the engine heats up

Listen for fan noise — it should spin fast and loudly

Check for debris in the radiator grill

Solution:

Repair o r replace the fan motor o r switch

Clean radiator fins with pressurized air o r water

Approximate cost in Pakistan: PKR 1,500–3,000
