1500 Electric Buses for Punjab

Transportation across Punjab is gearing up for a massive transformation, reaching far beyond Lahore’s boundaries. During a key Transport Department session in Lahore, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz underscored her province-wide mission, stating, “My role extends to every part of Punjab, not just its capital.” Her goal is straightforward: provide clean, efficient, and cutting-edge travel solutions to every citizen, no matter their location.

Launching a Sustainable Bus Fleet Across Punjab

At the core of this shift lies the introduction of 1,500 Electric Buses, poised to redefine mobility throughout the region. The rollout begins with 380 buses hitting the streets of Lahore and Gujranwala, laying the groundwork for a wider expansion. Soon, towns like Sargodha, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Rahim Yar Khan will welcome these green vehicles. Faisalabad joins the wave too, gaining sleek orange and red line buses to uplift its commuters’ daily journeys.
This effort isn’t just about adding vehicles—it’s a holistic push for sustainability. Maryam Nawaz has tasked officials with mapping out a robust grid of charging stations, ensuring the system thrives long-term. This reflects a serious intent to cut carbon emissions, slash dependence on gasoline, and bring dependable transit to underserved corners of Punjab.

Pioneering a High-Tech Transit Hub

To anchor this green revolution, authorities have approved a futuristic Transport Tower and Command Center in Lahore. This advanced base will oversee the electric bus operations, streamlining management and tackling hiccups instantly. It’s a clever setup to maximize performance and keep Punjab’s transit humming efficiently.
