2025 MG ZS: New Look and Hybrid Power Unveiled

The much-anticipated 2025 MG ZS is slated for an official reveal on August 26, 2024. MG has already provided glimpses of the new model on social media, highlighting a noticeable design evolution from the current ZS and ZST versions. The teaser images showcase a fresh front end featuring a new grille, redesigned headlights, and elements reminiscent of the latest MG HS and MG 3 hatchback.

Interior and Exterior Upgrades
The new MG ZS is expected to undergo significant updates, both inside and out. Recently, a camouflaged version of the car was spotted in Sydney, revealing hints of a redesigned interior. Notable changes include a squared-off steering wheel, a T-bar shifter, and a larger infotainment touchscreen with separated air vents, suggesting a more modern and functional cabin.

Engine Specifications
Under the hood, the 2025 MG ZS will offer a variety of powertrain options, including a new Hybrid+ model. This hybrid setup, similar to the one in the MG 3, combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor to produce a total output of 158kW. The Hybrid+ is expected to deliver enhanced fuel efficiency and performance compared to the standard petrol models.

Traditional Engine Options
For those who prefer traditional engines, the new ZS will continue to offer petrol-powered options. These include a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine and a turbocharged variant. The turbocharged engine, similar to those found in the MG 5 and the outgoing HS, generates approximately 119kW of power and 250Nm of torque.

Launch Timeline
The new MG ZS is set to launch in Australia in the fourth quarter of 2024, with the petrol models arriving first. The hybrid version will follow in 2025, and an updated ZS EV is anticipated later, possibly in 2026. While there has been no official word from MG Pakistan regarding an updated ZS launch, the compatibility of right-hand-drive vehicles in both Australia and Pakistan suggests that importing the necessary CKDs or CBUs would not be an issue for MG Pakistan.
