BYD Sealion 7 EV Launches at Paris Auto Show
The Paris Auto Show has always been a showcase for automotive innovation, and this year, BYD revealed its new Sealion 7 EV. Known as the Sealion 07 in China, this electric SUV aims to strengthen BYD's foothold in the European electric vehicle market, offering consumers a competitive option in the SUV segment.
BYD's presence at the show has expanded significantly since its debut two years ago with only three models. This year, the company showcased eight vehicles, highlighting its ambitious growth strategy in Europe. The Sealion 7 is a crucial addition, designed to attract attention in a highly sought-after segment.

Built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 Evo, the Sealion 7 promises enhanced efficiency and performance through its innovative "12-in-1" electric drive system. While specific European specifications remain undisclosed, the Chinese version offers two battery options—72 kWh and 81 kWh—with the larger option providing a range of up to 610 km under the Chinese testing standard.
The interior of the Sealion 7 features a modern, minimalist design, highlighted by a large 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen and luxurious Nappa leather seating. With dimensions comparable to the Tesla Model Y, the Sealion 7 is designed to appeal to the European market's preferences for spacious and well-equipped SUVs.

BYD's rapid growth aligns with its global strategy, with vehicles now available in 95 countries. In September 2024, BYD sold over 419,000 new energy vehicles, a significant increase from the previous year. The Sealion 7 is expected to hit European roads by the end of this year, with pricing yet to be announced, although it starts at approximately €24,040 in China.
