China's Changan Debuts Qiyuan A07 EV with 1200km Range

Changan has officially introduced its Qiyuan A07 sedan in China. This sedan, initially revealed in April and debuted in July, offers two power versions: pure electric (EV) and extended range (EREV).

Variant Range

There are five variants available, including three EREV models - the 200 Air, 200 Pro, and 200 Max, and two EV models - the 515 Air and 515 Pro. Prices range from RMB 155,900 to 176,900 ($21,300 to $24,200). It's worth noting that Qiyuan falls under Changan's new energy vehicle (NEV) brand, with the A07 as its inaugural model.

Exquisite Exterior Design

The Changan Qiyuan A07's exterior design radiates modern energy vehicle qualities with its graceful aesthetics, rounded body, front and rear LED light strips, and sleek main fascia. The Qiyuan logo, composed of two 1s and one 0, symbolizes the essence of numbers in binary code, as Changan explains.

Sporty and Elegant

The fastback design adds a sporty touch while preserving the vehicle's elegant lines. Notably, it features a hatchback tailgate, frameless doors, and concealed door handles. In terms of dimensions, the Changan Qiyuan A07 measures 4,905/1,910/1,480 mm in length, width, and height, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase, positioning it as a medium-to-large-sized sedan.

Innovative Interior

Inside, a minimalist design prevails with a 15.4-inch floating central control panel boasting 2.5K resolution and a double-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel featuring ambient lighting. Physical buttons are minimal, as most functions are integrated into the touchscreen. An AR-HUD replaces the traditional instrument panel. The audio system comprises 16 speakers, including two headrest speakers for the driver.

Customizable Comfort

Buyers can choose from various interior color options. The seats feature a diamond pattern and perforated finish, with higher-end variants offering heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, along with a scent system. The cockpit provides a "five-sense immersion space" with four modes: singing, watching movies, napping, and mind-wandering in rest mode. For instance, the nap scenario promotes sleep, while the meditation scenario encourages stress reduction.

Advanced Safety and Cruise Control

The car comes standard with an L2 level IACC adaptive cruise control system, supporting features such as intelligent cruise control in traffic, stabilizing and centering, automatic large-vehicle avoidance, and intelligent speed-limit control.

Powerful Performance

Regarding power, the Changan Qiyuan A07 pure electric version is equipped with CATL-supplied ternary lithium batteries, driven by a single electric motor delivering a maximum power of 190 kW, peak torque of 320 Nm, and a pure electric range of 515 kilometers (58.1 kWh battery capacity). Conversely, the Qiyuan A07 range-extended version incorporates a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine as a range extender, offering a maximum power of 70 kW for the range extender, 160 kW for the electric motor, and a peak torque of 320 Nm. The purely electric range is 200 kilometers (CLTC condition, 28.4 kWh battery capacity), with an official 100-kilometer fuel consumption of 4.5 liters while feeding. The vehicle also supports a 3kW external discharge function and boasts a 1,200-kilometer range on a full charge and full fuel.
