Under the new rules, the passport of the foreign tourist will be flagged with the carnet documents to enable proper reconciliation of the imported vehicles. All manual procedures have been replaced with a computerized system to assist travelers and prevent misuse of the facility. Furthermore, a monthly report will be prepared to check the status of overstaying vehicles and suggest timely penalties.
Conclusion:
The Federal Board of Revenue's updated rules on temporary vehicle importation seek to prevent misuse and promote transparency. The strict monitoring and record-keeping requirements will help curb any misuse of the facility, and the new rules will ensure that only foreign tourists can benefit from duty-free temporary vehicle importation.
