Geely Zeekr Introduces EVs with 800V 'Golden Brick Battery

Geely's Zeekr brand has recently introduced the Golden Brick, a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that claims a remarkable peak charging power of 500 kW. This innovation enables the battery to achieve a 10-80% state of charge in just 15 minutes, setting a new standard in rapid charging capabilities.

Unparalleled Safety Features

Zeekr emphasizes the exceptional safety of the Golden Brick LFP battery, having successfully withstood extreme tests. These include exposure to the intense cold of -45 degrees Celsius for 8 hours, exposure to 1,000 degrees Celsius heat, and remaining fully functional when reinstalled in a vehicle.

Revolutionary Design for Maximum Efficiency

The Golden Brick stands out as the first mass-produced LFP battery boasting a volume utilization of over 80% (specifically, 83.7%). This achievement is attributed to a meticulously optimized sandwich structure, ultra-thin separators, and an integrated tray design. The Zeekr 007 Electric Car will be the inaugural production New Vehicle featuring this groundbreaking battery, set to launch in China on December 27.

Highly Resilient Components with a Golden Touch

The major components of the Zeekr Golden Brick LFP battery are covered in a high-voltage-resistant insulation film with a distinctive golden appearance, inspiring its name. This unique feature enhances resistance by an impressive 27%. The battery pack also demonstrates water resistance, attaining an IPX8 grade for ingress protection.

 

Rigorous Endurance Tests

In addition to extreme temperature trials, Zeekr subjected the Golden Brick battery to rigorous durability assessments. The battery endured immersion in water for 48 hours, traversed through mud for 3 kilometers, and even withstood crush and impact tests. These involved driving a 22-tonne roller over it and dropping it from a crane at a height of 10 meters, all without resulting in smoke, fire, or explosions. The battery emerged from each test fully functional, showcasing its robust construction and reliability.
