Government Eases Car Purchase Rules for Non-Filers

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue has introduced amendments permitting non-filers to buy rickshaws, motorcycles, tractors, and cars with an engine capacity of up to 800cc.

This revision is a key component of The Tax Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024, designed to streamline taxation policies and accommodate stakeholder recommendations. The decision was made during a session led by MNA Naveed Qamar, where legislative updates were extensively reviewed.

Previously, non-filers were restricted from purchasing vehicles, acquiring property, and operating bank accounts under stringent tax regulations implemented in December 2023. These measures were enforced by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to enhance tax compliance and drive national economic stability.
