Honda Atlas Car Sales A Comparison of 2019 vs 2018

In Pakistan there are three Japanese auto manufacturers producing vehicles at local level for many decades. In the automobile industry the year 2019 various auto players entered in the local market under the Auto Development Policy ADP 2016-21. The bad news is that the auto companies faced a massive decline in the sales of used cars and new cars during 2019 and companies reduced the manufacturing of the vehicles due to limited demand of the industry. The less worth of the Rupee against US Dollar and implementation of various taxes and duties by the government was the major reason behind the of sales of the locally manufactured cars. The Honda Atlas have been severely affected among other cars in the industry. During 2019, Honda Atlas sales were only due to its famous Honda Civic and Honda Citymodels. The sales statistics of the both models are not yet known from authentic company resources that’s why it’s hard to be aware of the performance of these two models regarding sales in local market. Recently, Pakistan Automotive Manufacturer Association PAMA the sales stats, the overall sales of the Honda Atlas remained at 27, 097 units from January to November 2019 period. During the same period last year, the company sold a whopping 48,625 units, 44.27% more than the current year.

As far as the sales of the Civic and City models are concerned, there was a massive decrease i.e. 45.46% during the second half of the year 2019. The company sold 23, 440 units in 2019 while in 2018, the sale of the units was 42,986 in the same time period. Honda BR-V also didn’t give satisfactory performance up to expectations in 2019. The total sales of the of the Honda BR-V was 3657 units in Jan-Nov 2019 period whereas in the same period last year 5641 units were sold that shows a massive decline of 35.17%.

Honda Civic and City

As revealed before the overall sales of the company depends upon the Honda Civic and City. There was 3.5% increase in sales of the two models in January 2019 as compared to previous year. After that the sales of New Cars, the City and Civic started decreasing till November 2019. During the October there was an alarming decrease in the sales of these two models and the decline was recorded as 76.9%. The overall sales plunged by 45.4% in 2019 on year on year basis which was majorly contributed due to low sales in the 2nd half of the year owing to the imposition of several taxes and sky-rocketing prices. Honda BR-V

The compact SUV of the Japanese auto manufacturing company Honda BR- V also faced the crucial situation of declination of the prices in the local automobile industry in Pakistan. Its sales decreased by 35.1% during 2019. In the month of October of the same year the company sold vehicles with the lowest figure of 78 units of BR-V. The newly launched facelift version of BR-V helped in increase of the sales to some extent but the overall B vehicle sale performance was not better than last year.

Overall Sale Contribution of Each Model of Honda Atlas

Amazingly, during 2019, Honda Civic and Honda City Models faced 1% loss at overall sales share for the automaker. During 2018, the overall sale contribution of two models was 88% which is now reduced to 87%. In other words Honda BR-V gained 1% for automaker in over sales contribution.

Instead of introducing discounted schemes and lowering the prices of their vehicles, Honda Atlas has been at the forefront of stopping production due to low demand in the market. Since July 2019, the auto company has celebrated the most unproductive day NPD's to date with the Toyota Indus. The company claims that it has used a large number of piloted in-sales inventories in its dealership network in Pakistan.
