Hyundai Staria Vs Kia Carnival: MPVs Comparison

The Hyundai is preparing to launch another car in the Multi Purpose Vehicle MPV lineup, the Hyundai Staria. As we know in previous report that the company has imported 4 units of Hyundai Staria for testing purpose. It shows that the Hyundai is once again going to make its entrance in the MPV market to complete with Kia Carnival. In this article we have brought up a brief comparison of these MPVs, the Hyundai Staria and Kia Carnival. Dimensions

The Kia Carnival is bigger MPV on the roads till date but now the bigger than Kia Carnival is coming soon. As for the dimensions the car will be bigger than its competitor. The length of Hyundai Staria is 14cm and Height is 22cm more than the Kia Carnival.

Body Design

The Kia Carnival comes in SUV styled body design. We saw a fusion of design on the other brands. When we look at the Staria from Hyundai, it has much resemblance like a commercial van. The front of the Hyundai Staria is similar to Robocop’s helmet. It has an attractive design and look which is different as compared to Kia Carnival.

Engine and Transmission

Both vehicles comes with same engine installed in them which is 3470cc. Engines of both cars are mated with 8-speed automatic transmission. The engine of Kia Carnival generates 272 horsepower and 332 Nm of torque. Engine of Hyundai Staria produces 268 horsepower and 331 Nm of torque.

According to some review made internationally, the Kia Carnival has strong acceleration and quieter driving experience as compared to Hyundai Staria, but nothing is confirmed yet because Staria has to make its debut yet and our experts will drive the staria, then we can foreword our opinions in this regard.

Seating Space

The Both MPVs have 5 doors and come with three rows of seats in which eight passengers can sit easily. But Staria has significantly more headroom as compared to its competitor Kia Carnival.

Features

MPVs, the Kia Carnival and Hyundai Staria come with comprehensive features. Here, the major difference between both the vehicles is that the Kia Carnival comes with Front Wheel Drive FWD only and on the other hand the Hyundai Staria is featured with a part time All Wheel Drive AWD system.

The both cars are provided with 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, LED headlights, DRLs, and foglights. The Kia Carnival has larger touch screen as compared to Staria. The touch screen size of Carnival is 12.3 inches while Staria has 10.25 inches touchscreen. Both cars are featured with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the ability to pair two smartphones simultaneously.

The Staria from Hyundai comes with wireless smartphone charging under its belt while the Kia Carnival has better audio system.

Safety

As far as the safety features are concerned, the Kia Carnival comes with a five-star safety rating in the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), whereas, the crash test to check the safety of the Hyundai Staria is not yet taken. So the safety features of the Hyundai will be discussed after its launch and crash test.

The both competitors in the MPV segment has same major features like adaptive cruise control, lane-assist, lead-vehicle depart notification, auto high beam, blind-spot, and rear cross-traffic monitoring, fatigue alert, and speed limit notification. Both cars come with the curtain airbags.

Both Hyundai Staria and Kia Carnival are provided with front/rear sensors with cameras having surround views. Additionally, the Staria has 360 monitor for a 3D effect.

Price

Finally, coming to price, a major aspect, there is no big difference in terms of pricing of the both vehicles. The price of Kia Carnival is between 27,000 USD to 35,000 USD in the auto market of South Korea. On the other side, the price of Hyundai Staria is 25, 854 US Dollars. This indicates that like Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage, the Kia Carnival and Hyundai Staria are cousins.

So, the both vehicles are great choices. It’s up to you, you prefer which one, a Van Style MPV, the Hyundai Staria or an SUV-Style MPV, the Kia Carnival.
