Islamabad Traffic Fines Surge: New Penalties Unveiled
The Ministry of Interior in Islamabad has taken a significant step towards enhancing road safety by increasing fines for traffic violations. This move, which now encompasses cyclists, is part of a broader effort to ensure strict adherence to traffic regulations and improve road safety.
According to the official notification, fines for traffic violations will now vary from Rs. 500 to Rs. 8,000, depending on the gravity of the offense. Cyclists, who were previously overlooked in traffic regulations, will now face a fine of Rs. 500 if they violate traffic signals.
The government's decision to raise traffic penalties comes after issuing an official notification that emphasizes the importance of enforcing traffic laws to ensure the safety of all road users.
A spokesperson for the Ministry stated, "This initiative is crucial in our continuous efforts to reduce accidents and promote responsible driving."
Under the new regulations, signal violations will incur a fine of Rs. 2,000. Motorcyclists will face fines of Rs. 1,000 for one-way violations and underage driving. Cars can be fined up to Rs. 2,000 for similar offenses, while HTVs (Heavy Transport Vehicles) may face fines of up to Rs. 8,000, according to the notification.
Violations such as tinted windows, reckless driving, and driving without a license will result in fines of Rs. 1,500, Rs. 2,000, and up to Rs. 8,000, respectively, depending on the type of vehicle. The use of mobile phones while driving will lead to fines ranging from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 8,000.
