Learner's Licenses Available at All Lahore Police Stations

The Lahore Traffic Police has introduced a significant change in the process of obtaining learner’s driving licenses, aligning with an initiative led by the IG Punjab. Learner's licenses will now be accessible at the front desks of police stations, effective from December 6, 2023. This move aims to streamline the licensing process, offering increased convenience for applicants.

In parallel, the Government of Punjab has declared an impending increase in the license fees for cars and motorcycles, slated to take effect on January 1, 2024. The fee will surge from Rs 60 to Rs 1000. However, there is a window for applicants to secure their driving licenses at the current rates until December 31, 2023, as emphasized in the announcement on December 5, 2023.

Simultaneously, the Lahore Traffic Police has intensified efforts to curb underage and unlicensed driving. Within 21 days, over 7,000 cases have been registered against such drivers, leading to vehicle impoundments. Over 15 days, 9,355 drivers without licenses faced legal consequences, according to information shared on December 4, 2023. These actions underscore the ongoing commitment to enforce traffic laws and enhance road safety in Lahore. As a whole, these developments signify a comprehensive effort to modernize licensing procedures, address traffic violations, and prioritize public safety.
