Main Facts in Smart Vehicle Registration System

It looks like that the importance of modern technology is finally recognized by the excise department and now it has decided to replace the manual system of vehicle registration and ownership system with the new system. Why is there such a need to replace the Open Letter System
Open letter is a manual system that takes a lot of labor to implement while it is also quite a tiresome process. Due to this labor bond system, the problems and errors are expected in it. The Excise department also wants to tackle the ‘agent mafia’ for which it wants to create an accountable system.
When and Where?
According to experts, this system will initially run on trial basis in Punjab because of its huge population and also for a smooth operation as compared to other provinces. According to ADG Excise, this system is expected to be set in Punjab before June 2017.
How is it going to work?
A vehicle’s smart registration card, registration plate and universal number will be included in the process of ‘smart vehicle registration’ after which the workers will be released from these duties.
So far, the issues of already registered vehicles, transfer of used car and the execution of smart vehicle registration system are not known but we are expecting the excise department to start campaigns to educate people about this new vehicle registration system and it will be well accepted by common people.
