Toyota Yaris Facelift Launching Soon in Pakistan 2023
Despite the current economic downturn and decreasing sales, Toyota Indus Motor remains committed to its "New Model Launch Plan" which includes launching new variants of its brands such as Yaris, planned 36-48 months in advance. Although YoY and MoM sales have taken a hit, the company is gearing up to release a facelift of its best-selling sedan, the Toyota Yaris, by the end of this year or early next year.
It's worth noting that Yaris was launched in March 2020 and has been in Pakistan for three years. In addition, credible sources reveal that the company plans to release a locally assembled hybrid car, most likely the Corolla Cross. The launch of this hybrid vehicle is also on track with the initial plan, and any delay would be due to external circumstances.
Toyota Sales Down
Toyota Indus Motors has reported a 52% decrease in sales YoY, following the trend of other local auto industries such as Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC). Monthly sales have also plummeted since June 2020. The company sold only 1803 vehicles last month, which is the lowest sales trend since COVID-19 hit the local auto industry. The reason for the sales crisis is primarily due to import curbs imposed by the State Bank of Pakistan. According to the company's management, sales would have been better if LCs (letter of credit) were allowed.
