Yutong and Master Motor to Make City Buses in Pakistan

Master Motor Corporation and Yutong Bus Company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to form a joint venture for the local manufacturing and assembly of Yutong’s New Energy City Buses in Pakistan. This agreement marks a significant step towards enhancing the country's public transportation infrastructure.

The joint venture, named Yutong Master, will establish a new greenfield plant dedicated to this operation, making it the first and only company to produce city buses locally in Pakistan. Yutong’s New Energy City Buses, available in hybrid and electric powertrains, are designed to cater to the public transport needs across the country. This initiative aligns with government efforts to modernize and upgrade transportation infrastructure in Pakistan.

The MoU was officially signed by Danial Malik, Director of Master Motor, and Huang Yuanchao of Yutong during the Pakistan Shenzhen Business Conference on June 5, 2024. The signing ceremony coincided with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s visit to China, reflecting the broader objective of the conference to encourage new business ventures and stimulate economic growth in Pakistan.

Prominent attendees at the event included Jam Kamal, Minister for Commerce; Rana Tanvir Hussain, Minister for Industries and Production; Abdul Kaleem Khan, Minister for Privatization; Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Secretary Planning and Development; and Erfa Iqbal, Additional Secretary, Board of Investment. Their presence underscored the government's support and commitment to this significant development in Pakistan’s transportation sector.

Yutong Bus, established in 2013, has quickly become the leading bus manufacturer in Pakistan, serving both public and private fleet operators. As the world’s largest bus manufacturer, Yutong holds over 15% of the global market share and 36.1% of the Chinese market share, demonstrating its leadership and expertise in the bus manufacturing industry.
