How to improve Nissan Sunny 2010 fuel average

Asalam -o- Alaikum. I had a Nissan Sunny Classic 1.6 GL Saloon. Its fuel consumption is too bad :cry: compared to its equivalent cars. Without AC its is giving 6km/Ltr:$ and with AC its average is 5km/LtrAwhich is so pathetic.
your valuable suggestion are required to improve its fuel consumption o r should I change to Honda o r Mitsubishi.

QG16DE should give you 13 to 14 km/ltr in the city and upto 17 km/ltr on motorway. I have QG18DE which is giving me 12km/ltr in local and 16km/ltr on motorway.
Check your car by connecting proper scanner and see what is malfunctioning.
