Changan EVs Arrive in Pakistan: L07 Sedan & S07 SUV

Master Changan Motors Limited (MCML) is on the cusp of introducing its inaugural pure electric vehicle brand, Deepal  L07 Sedan and S07 SUV, in Pakistan. While not officially confirmed, a reliable source suggests an imminent launch, hinted at by a senior official within the company. Under the overarching Vast Ocean Plan, Changan, MCML's parent company, has unveiled three distinct EV brands, including Deepal, signaling MCML's foray into Pakistan's electric vehicle market.

MCML is in the final stages of introducing the Deepal S07, a mid-size crossover SUV, and Deepal L07, a Fast-back sports Sedan, under the Deepal brand. These vehicles are produced by Deepal, Changan’s electric vehicle subsidiary, operational since 2023. Collaborating with industry giants Huawei and CATL, Changan has developed an EV-first platform, recently launching the Deepal L07 sedan and Deepal S07 SUV in Thailand, a market akin to Pakistan.

Syed Shabbiruddin, MCML's Director of Sales and Marketing, expresses optimism about EV growth, citing burgeoning car demand among the young population and projected additional demand of 360,000 by 2030. He emphasizes the declining cost of EV batteries, already below $139/kWh and expected to further drop below $99/kWh by 2027, spurring global consumer-driven EV adoption.

The potential launch of Deepal EVs in Pakistan represents a significant step towards shaping the country's electric vehicle landscape. However, challenges persist, including regulatory hurdles and infrastructure limitations. Nonetheless, MCML remains committed to overcoming these obstacles, driving towards a sustainable and electric-powered future in Pakistan.
