Suzuki Bikes Prices Surge Twice in a Single Month

Suzuki Bikes enthusiasts in Pakistan are facing yet another price increase, marking the second hike in just a month. On September 15, 2023, the company raised prices on two of its popular models by up to Rs. 26,000. Now, with a new price adjustment effective from October 1, 2023, two additional Suzuki bike models have seen their prices soar by as much as Rs. 18,000.

Revised Suzuki Motorcycle Prices

As a result of the latest price adjustment, the Suzuki GD 110S, which used to be priced at Rs. 335,000, will now cost Rs. 352,000, reflecting an increase of Rs. 17,000. Similarly, the Suzuki GS 150 new price is Rs. 382,000, up from its previous rate of Rs. 364,000, representing an increase of Rs. 18,000.

Factors Behind the Price Hikes

The frequent price increases in Suzuki motorcycles have raised eyebrows among potential buyers. Motorcycles are often chosen by middle-class families for daily commuting, making affordability a significant concern. However, these successive price hikes have put these two-wheelers out of reach for many, mirroring the rising costs seen in the automobile industry.

Interestingly, Suzuki has not provided any specific reasons for these recent price hikes. While auto companies previously attributed such increases to fluctuating exchange rates, the Pakistani rupee has actually strengthened against the US dollar in recent weeks, which should have resulted in price stabilization rather than further increases.

For instance, when Suzuki initially raised prices in May 2023, the exchange rate was Rs. 285 to 1 USD. Today, it stands at around Rs. 288, marking only a 1% increase. However, Suzuki bike prices have surged by 5%, raising questions about the fairness of these price hikes.
